Nestled along the cobbled curve of Candy Cane Lane, just a few steps from the Rootbeer River and within nose’s reach of the Great Fir Tree, stands one of the most beloved landmarks in all of Santa’s Village: Kathy’s Candy Shop.
Stepping through its peppermint-striped doors, you're immediately wrapped in a cozy swirl of sugar and spice, caramel warmth, and a faint hint of magical fairy dust (green, not red—don’t worry!). The interior glows with golden light from floating gumdrop lanterns, and the shelves are a wonderland of handcrafted confections:
– Frosted Cinnamon Swirls
– Maple Snow Puffs
– Glow-in-the-Dark Gumdrops (a favorite among Messenger Elves)
– Reindeer-Nose Red Licorice Ropes
– and of course, the signature Kathy Krunch Clusters—toffee, pecan, and mystery sparkles in every bite.
Kathy Clockwright, a sprightly Shoe Elf with a bun like a whipped marshmallow swirl and a laugh that sounds like sleigh bells, has been running the shop for over 80 years (or “roughly three peppermint eras,” as she puts it). She knows every elf by name and often slips in a bonus bonbon “for musical elves, mischief-makers, or good listeners.”
But Kathy’s isn’t just a place for sweets. It’s a community cornerstone—home of spontaneous sing-alongs, candy-making classes, and the occasional heated Hot Cocoa Cook-Off. During the
Christmas in July Festival, her candy-making demos are standing-room only, and rumor has it she’s preparing a new concoction this year involving freeze-dried fruitcake bites. Proceed with caution.
Outside the shop, the sweet scent wafts down the lane like a silent invitation, drawing in elves, reindeer wranglers, and even Santa himself—who’s been known to slip in for a marshmallow mustache fix before meetings.
In a village powered by cheer and tradition, Kathy’s Candy Shop is a glowing gumdrop beacon—reminding everyone that sometimes, joy really does come in bite-sized pieces.
